This exercise guide is created from work done alongside my good friend, Francisco “Pacho” Flores, in 2016 and 2017 at the STOMVI instrument factory in Valencia, Spain. It has been complemented with personally-developed concepts and through experiences obtained from those who have been my principal mentors.

Step-by-step guide to achieve in an organised and progressive way an optimal development in the technical work through the use of the Upsound.

The Introduction section explains the concepts of Mouthpiece, Lip Vibration, Air / Embouchure (muscles) as well as recommendations for the study of the exercises and some practical tips for the technical study of the instrument.

The exercise sequences are described and recommended for weekly work in two main phases:

Phase 1 Range Extention: C Pedal – C High
Phase 2 Range Extention: C double pedal – C Double High

Studying with the backing tracks is a great resource that will help us to maintain stability in tempo and tuning, as well as being a way of interacting together and having a reference for the execution of the exercises.

In this way, I expanded my register and corrected some bad habits that have been created over the years. There is always something to work on and learn each day. That is one of our motivations to work on the instrument.
Thank you so much for your time and willingness to read and experiment with what I share with you. I hope it is for the benefit of many.
